Hikkaduwa is famous for its DIVING. From open water diving to a selection of dives such as wreck dives, night dives and trips for those who just want to try out diving; this destination has many options to choose from. The diving season runs from November to April. Some Dive Centers in the area include Poseidon Diving Station, Barracuda Diving Centre and Blue Deep Diving.

Shailabimbaramaya Maha Viharaya (Dodanduwa)

One the finest of the island' Southern temples. The history of the origin of Sailabimbaramaya Temple is shrouded in myths and legends. Sailabimbaramaya Temple of Dodanduwa was found in the year 1797 and this temple was given its name due to the presence of two 'Granite Statues' of the Buddha.

GALLE Fort one of the 8 UNESCO sites in Sri Lanka is JUST 20 MINUTES AWAY. However be sure to read up on its history before making a visit, to fully understand the colourful story behind this heritage and the city of Galle. You will not be bored. Whether you chose to have a guide or simply stroll along the narrow streets, you will experience well maintained evidence of the Dutch influence. However there are many notable difference to 400 years ago.

A Museum occupies the stables and every nook and corner has something exciting to explore - enticing jewellery shops, book stores, fashion outlets and cafes set the paved streets ablaze with colour and activity.

The Turtle Hatchery

The Sea Turtle Farm & Hatchery is a non - profitable organization which is maintained for the survival of Sea Turtles for the next generation. Do drop in and be amazed by the efforts undertaken by the conservation farm to protect these species. Peraliya in Telwatta Hikkaduwa and Kosgoda area is famous for turtle hatcheries

Surfing (Hikkaduwa is renowned for this)

Hikkaduwa is a renowned surf destination and annually attracts surfers from Australia, UK, Japan, US to name a few. Surfing in the Hikkaduwa region is quite well known and gets the best surf during its dry season, which is from November to March. There are four main surf points in hikkaduwa with waves going up to 11 feet.

Surf boards can be conveniently rented from any water sports centre for anyone to try this sport and make most of the waves.
